Bike Paramedic Hit by Car at DNC

DENVER -- A Denver Health bike paramedic answering a call was hit by a car and seriously injured Wednesday night.

Brian Schimpf, 28, was in a bike lane at 18th and Market streets in Lower Downtown when he was hit. He was headed to a distress call at 18th and Blake streets.

Schimpf's paramedic partner cared for him until an ambulance arrived and took him to Denver Health Medical Center.
