Event Kicks Off International EMS Contest

UTICA, N.Y. -- Paramedics from the country of Poland pitted their culinary skills against several Utica firefighters during Wednesday's Iron Stomach cooking competition at the Utica Fire Academy. The noon lunch was served to 24 Utica firefighters, who then voted for a winner. The Polish and Utica paramedics, physicians and nurses then talked about the differences and similarities between the emergency medical service systems of Poland and the United States. This event preceded EMS Global Inc.'s first International EMS Competition in Utica, scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
