Ohio Woman Steals Ambulance

A Hillsboro woman who said she was tired of waiting for a ride reportedly drove off in a vehicle marked as an ambulance and belonging to Hillsboro Fire and Rescue.

After being discharged from Highland District Hospital on Saturday, 46-year-old Sharon Gillespie allegedly drove a 2006 Chevrolet emergency response vehicle from an area outside the HDH emergency room while the ambulance crew was with a patient inside the hospital around 10:14 a.m., the Hillsboro Police Department said.

Gillespie was apprehended a short time later in the 900 block of North High Street by Highland County Sheriff Ron Ward, who was off duty at the time of the incident.
