Florida Paramedic Injured in Ambulance Crash

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A Volusia County paramedic was injured when the ambulance he was riding in was hit by another vehicle.

An EVAC Ambulance spokesman says the emergency unit was leaving the scene of another crash, carrying two patients to a Daytona Beach hospital, early Tuesday morning when car ran into it.

The spokesman says the ambulance had been using its lights and siren.

The car's driver refused treatment. The [paramedic] and an assisting firefighter were not injured. The two patients being transported did not appear to experience additional injuries.

It's not clear if anyone was cited for the crash.
