When dealing with a hazmat incident, the moreinformation you can obtain about a substance, the better equipped you are to deal with it. The free Wireless Information System for Emergency Responders (WISER), published by theU.S. National Library of Medicine, has recently been upgraded toWISER Version 4.2. The upgrade includes an overlay of a chemicalÌs protective distance zones on an interactive map, transportation criteria (DOT placard, rail car, road trailer) added to the unknown chemical identification section, signs/symptoms imagery added to each biological agent, and data updates.
