Municipalities throughout the U.S. are using Smart911, a technology that provides citizens with the ability to create a safety profile, which is then made available to 9-1-1 call takers through screen pop when a 9-1-1 call is placed. Recently in Nashville, a woman with a strong Spanish accent called 9-1-1 and hung up the phone. After seeing the Smart911 screen pop, instead of just deploying police to scene, the 9-1-1 responder also deployed EMS and provided them with pre-arrival instructions about a child with a rare breathing disorder. With the additional information provided through Smart911, EMS arrived immediately, were aware of the disorder and were prepared to save the child’s life.
Rave Mobile Safety will announced the latest version of Smart911, the industry’s first and only technology that meets The National Emergency Number Association (NENA) i3 Standards. This means that PSAPs using Smart911 will be on path to Next Generation 911 compliance and will dramatically improve public safety within their municipality. The latest version will also make it even easier for citizens to register with a Spanish registration page, registration through Facebook, and include fields for pet information and ability to upload a photo of their home, so they can easily be found in an emergency.
Also, new reporting features will provide a new level of transparency for the public safety industry. PSAPs can now run daily, weekly and monthly reports and view call response times, lengths of 9-1-1 calls, and other statistics to understand if their organization is improving over time. For the first time, PSAPs will be able to compare their results against their peers and grasp their level of response.
