ESO Solutions, Inc., an Austin-based company that creates and distributes innovative, industry leading software solutions for the pre-hospital healthcare industry, has released its latest offering, ESO Hospital Data Exchange (HDE). ESO HDE is designed to close the loop on patient care, enabling EMS and hospitals to collaborate on the care they provide in both the prehospital and hospital environment. This Platform-as-a-Service communication method will provide hospitals with secure and easy access to vital pre-hospital patient care data while delivering the valuable outcomes data EMS agencies need to quantify the quality of their patient care.
With ESO HDE, hospitals will be able to view critical pre-hospital patient information directly from within their electronic medical record (EMR) system. In addition, they now have access to the raw EMS data they need to report to registries, trend patient populations and develop metrics. EMS, in turn, will have views into the data they need to institute comprehensive quality management programs based on clinical outcomes. ESO HDE also will enable EMS to leverage hospitals’ efficient billing processes and access to detailed patient billing information.
Regardless of what patient documentation platforms are in place in the pre-hospital or hospital environment, ESO HDE will enable these disparate systems to communicate, translating their distinct data types into a format each can understand. Furthermore, once an EMS or hospital system is connected to the ESO HDE platform, it can connect with any other agency or hospital worldwide that uses ESO HDE, with no additional setup required.
ESO HDE establishes ESO Solutions’ presence beyond the pre-hospital market. As Allen Johnson, former CEO of Montgomery County Hospital District and current Executive Director - Emergency Services of HCA Gulf Coast Division explained, “It is a fallacy to think that ESO is an EMS company anymore. Where they are going with data management and an improvement of health care in our communities is going to be revolutionary.”
