Honoring The fallen
Each year during EMS Week, the Muddy Angels spend seven days cycling in the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride to honor their brothers and sisters who have given their lives to others. The seven-day ride is a physically and emotionally challenging journey that brings the riders closer to their environment and even closer to each other. Pictured at left, are the Muddy Angels riding into their final destination—Alexandria, Va.—with high emotions. Pictured from left in the front row is Jim Davis and Scott Davis. Below, from left, three riders —Cindy Allard, Sam Yoder and Rae Lammeree—massage their fellow riders’ muscles during a break on the last day, and Jim Judge rides through the historic battlefields in Gettsyburg, Pa., on the last day before reaching Alexandria. Read more about rider Steve Wirth’s experiences—and see more photos—at jems.com/2011nemsmbr.
