At the Eagle's Retreat on Thursday, Feb. 27, ZOLL Medical Director Greg Mears, MD, briefed the major U.S. municipal medical directors (aka ”Eagles”) on ZOLL's vision for its device and data products over the next few years.

JEMS Coverage of the 2014 Gathering of Eagles

Mears described ZOLL’s thought leadership as one based on clinical care, understanding that EMS service delivery is key to quality patient care. Key attributes of ZOLL’s future vision include:

  • Advanced patient monitoring to more quickly detect changing patient conditions, such as shock and/or cardiac arrest;
  • Early warning of potential cardiac arrest, expanding the clinical decision support currently provided for CPR to other areas of resuscitation, including ventilation and acute time dependent illness and injury;
  • Empowering mobile integrated healthcare (community paramedicine) through remote monitoring, open architecture across platform data exchange (e.g., 12-lead ECG), and outcome analysis; and
  • Advanced business analytics of EMS service delivery and clinical care with a focus on benchmarking and best practices.

This year’s Eagles Retreat featured more than 50 medical directors from across North America as well as Great Britain, the Netherlands and New Zealand.
