CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Two people have been killed in a Hamilton County crash involving an ambulance and a truck.
Hamilton County Emergency Services Director Ken Wilkerson said both deaths occurred in the pickup truck. Wilkerson said the crash occurred at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday on a straight and level section of Highway 58.
The Rural Metro Ambulance was traveling to Chattanooga from McMinn County.
Five people who were in the ambulance were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Wilkerson says the ambulance was transporting a special needs patient, the patient's nurse, the patient's mother and two emergency medical technicians.
It wasn't immediately clear how the crash occurred, but video by WTVC-TV (http://bit.ly/ZBS4Us) showed the ambulance on its side.
