A "Transformers 3" movie extra was hospitalized Wednesday night after suffering a serious head injury during a stunt in northwest Indiana, police said.
The female extra was injured about 7 p.m. when an object went through the windshield of her 2006 Toyota on Cline Avenue in Hammond, Indiana State Police said.
The car hit a concrete median barrier and continued for almost a mile before stopping, police said.
The vehicle had extensive damage to the driver's side.
The woman was airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
She was an extra in the movie but not a member of the stunt personnel, police said.
The crew stopped filming after the accident. The film's executives could not be reached for comment.
The movie was scheduled to continue production today in downtown Chicago.
