LEETSDALE, Pa. - Three workers are being treated for injuries, including one who had to be flown to a Pittsburgh hospital burn unit, after an accident at a western Pennsylvania copper plant.

Officials at Hussey Copper Ltd. in Leetsdale, have not returned a call for comment. But Leetsdale police say the workers were hurt when water used to cool copper ingots they were making caused a blast of steam and flames that burned them.

Police say there was no explosion or resulting fire in the incident that was reported about 9:40 a.m. Tuesday.

The plant was not evacuated and continued to operate normally Tuesday. The names of the victims and their conditions were not immediately available.

Leetsdale is in Beaver County, about 10 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
