LOCKPORT, N.Y. - In Niagara County, an afternoon boat fire sent three people to ECMC's burn unit.

Early this morning News 4 got a call from one of the victims, Joseph Woodring.

After finding the boat in an add on Craigslist, Woodring says he went with his friend Adam Kumm to check it out.

This is what the boat looked like after the explosion.

23 year old Adam Kumm, 18 year old Jonathan Ludwig, and 27 year old Joseph Woodring were working on it yesterday afternoon.

Joseph Woodring who was burned in the explosion said, "I was up by the ignition I really got the least of it my whole right arm, gotten burned I jumped on the ground I thought I was on fire."

Woodring says the pain was excruciating.

The 16 foot boat's engine caught on fire officials say which caused a fireball and burned the three men.

It happened yesterday afternoon on Ridge Road in the Town of Lockport.

"My father was inside, he said he heard a 'woosh.' And my boyfriend was on the boat. He's been trying to sell the boat and he had two people out here looking at it. And as far as I know they couldn't get the boat started so they tried jumping it and it went up," added Lainie Reed, the victim's girlfriend.

All three men suffered second-degree burns.

Krumm and Ludwig were airlifted by Mercy Flight to E-C-M-C.

Woodring was taken there by ambulance, treated and released.

The boat is completely destroyed.

Right now Kumm is in the ICU burn unit at ECMC listed in fair condition. Ludwig is listed in stable.
