CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - A medical helicopter struck a power line while departing from a traffic accident in rural East Tennessee and the pilot landed with no one being hurt.

A statement from West Plains, Mo.-based Air Evac Lifeteam said the pilot landed the helicopter safely near Highway 315 in Polk County about 6:45 p.m. Monday. A patient who was on board was transported to a hospital by another medical helicopter that had arrived at the traffic accident scene north of Reliance.

The Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter is based in McMinn County.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/o2w2zm ) reports that three people hurt in the traffic accident were listed in stable condition at a Chattanooga hospital.

Air Evac Lifeteam spokeswoman Julie Heavrin said Tuesday the incident was reported to aviation agencies.
