VOORHEES, N.J. (AP) — School officials in southern New Jersey say six students and one teacher have been taken to the hospital following what the superintendent of schools is calling a "fire incident."
Eastern High School officials posted a brief message on the district's website saying the incident happened during a science experiment at the school in Voorhees early Monday afternoon.
The statement says the injured were taken to local hospitals "for medical treatment and for precautionary reasons."
Their conditions and the extent of the injuries were not made public.
A woman who answered the phone at the high school says parents were being notified and the school would not comment beyond the statement posted on the website.
Voorhees police responded to the scene but didn't immediately provide additional details.
