ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) — Officials say an SUV crashed near the Arlington National Cemetery after a police chase, injuring five adults and one child.
Police say the incident began about 3 p.m. Thursday after police received a report of grand larceny at a Tysons Corner mall store. An officer assigned to the mall area responded and briefly stopped the suspects inside the SUV, but car sped away.
County police and the U.S. Park Police chased the vehicle as it traveled to Arlington, Washington and back to Arlington. Sgt. David Schlosser, a Park Police spokesman, says the SUV crashed into a light pole in Memorial Circle and rolled over, injuring six people. They suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are investigating the incident.
