Seven people were injured in a two-car crash Tuesday night that sent a taxicab plowing through the doors of a 7-Eleven in the Loop.
"The miraculous part is that the cab didn't run into anyone in the store," said Larry Langford, a Fire Department spokesman.
Four people in the cars were hospitalized, two seriously, and three others received minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
At 10:35 p.m., a Toyota Corolla went through a red light and was broadsided by the Taxi With Us cab on Wabash and Adams. The cab then crashed through the store's entrance at 33 East Adams. The other car crashed into a nearby news stand.
Hiroyuki Fujita, 46, of Japan, said he walking near the store when the cab went past him. "I was so scared," said Fujita, who was not injured but splashed by red wine from the store.
