CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A small plane has crashed near Cheyenne.

Only the pilot was on board the plane, which went down around 7:30 Tuesday morning. Lew Simpson, spokesman for Laramie County Fire District No. 2, says paramedics arrived to find the pilot walking around at the scene 13 miles west of Cheyenne.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/M0EntI) that a helicopter flew the pilot to a hospital.

Simpson says the plane severed at least one power line as it crashed. About 400 people in the area were without electricity.

The power line started a small fire that was quickly extinguished.
