Paramedics Catch Baby Dropped During Ohio Fire

Mother and baby suffered injuries that don't appear to be life-threatening.

HAMILTON, Ohio - A mother trapped in a burning Ohio building has dropped her baby out a window to firefighters and paramedics below before being rescued herself.

Firefighters say heavy flames and smoke were coming from the back of the three-family home in Hamilton when they arrived Wednesday night. They say the mother was upstairs by a window with her 8-month-old son.

Paramedics coaxed the woman to drop the baby to them while other firefighters set up a ladder to reach her.

Firefighters say the mother and baby suffered injuries that don't appear to be life-threatening. Rescue crews say everyone else got out of the building safely.

The fire was in the walls and attic of the building. Firefighters extinguished it from outside.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined.
