JEMS: Fatal Indianapolis Ambulance Crash Claims EMT

Specialist Paramedic Cody Medley died at Wishard Hospital early Sunday morning. Troy Riggs, director of the City of Indianapolis Department of Public Safety stated, "We grieve with our IEMS family as we learn of the passing of Specialist Cody Medley," and “Please keep his family and his friends in your thoughts and prayers."

WISH-TV reports that EMS officials will hold a press conference at 12 p.m. Sunday to talk about Medley's passing.

Medley joined the agency in 2010. He previously served as a member of the Sunman Fire Department before joining the IEMS.

Officials announced Saturday that IEMS Private Timothy C. McCormick, 24, had died from injuries sustained in the crash. Police state that the ambulance was struck, while going through an intersection, and that the ambulance had the right of way.

The force of the impact caused the ambulance to slide into a parked vehicle.
