Oregon EMT Critically Injured Following Oxygen Tank Explosion

He received first and second-degree burns after a valve on the tank malfunctioned

HILLSBORO, Ore. -- The Metro West Ambulance emergency medical technician who was injured in a Sunday morning explosion has been identified as a 25-year-old man, who is also a volunteer firefighter and single father from Scappoose.

The family of Eric Nehl confirmed he is the man who received first and second-degree burns after a valve on an oxygen tank in the Metro West Ambulance headquarters in Hillsboro malfunctioned at 8 a.m. Sunday, causing the explosion and a fire.
