One Dead, Five Injured in California Crash

Two tractor-trailers involved in San Joaquin County highway crash

MANTECA, Calif. (AP) — Officials say one person is dead and five are injured after a highway collision involving two big rigs and cars on a San Joaquin County highway.

California Highway Patrol Officer James Smith tells Sacramento's KCRA-TV (on.news10.net/1a0aAxG) that the collision was reported at about 3:15 p.m. Monday in Manteca (man-TEE-kuh) northwest of Modesto.

The eastbound side of State Route 120 was shut down for about four hours while the injured were helped, the wreckage was cleared and the CHP investigated.

No further details have been released on the cause of the crash or the number or seriousness of the injuries.
