TORONTO — One person is dead and at least two others are injured after a construction crane collapsed at York University in Toronto.

Emergency Medical Services is confirming that one person at the scene has died.

Spokesman Peter Macintyre says one of the injured is being taken by air ambulance to Sunnybrook Hospital and another is being taken by a land ambulance.

He says it's not immediately clear exactly how many victims there are — but there could be as many as three or four.

The crane was working at a construction site near the Schulich School of Business and the area is a loop for GO and Toronto Transit Commission buses.

Paramedics and fire crews are at the scene. It's not immediately known what caused the crane to collapse.
