SUFFOLK, Va. - Authorities are investigating a collision between a Suffolk school bus and a van that injured eight children and one adult.
Media outlets report that the accident occurred around 8:20 a.m. Thursday.
City spokeswoman Debbie George says a preliminary investigation indicates that the westbound van crossed the center line and collided with the eastbound bus.
George says six students in the bus and two children in the van were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The van's driver suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Norfolk. Her condition wasn't immediately available.
The bus was traveling to Driver Elementary School when the accident occurred.
