More than 60 physicians are in attendance at the Eagle Creek Retreat in Dallas to discuss the present and future of prehospital medicine.

More than 60 EMS medical directors from large population centers throughout the United States, as well as several other countries, began their annual EMS State of the Sciences Conference in Dallas, Texas, today. The conference is often dubbed the "Eagle’s Retreat" because a decade ago a journalist who heard of the large gathering of EMS medical directors reported that it was a great “Gathering of Eagles."
The two-day closed-door retreat precedes the annual two-day U.S. Municipalities Medical Directors’ Consortium. The physicians (“Eagles”) involved in the Eagle Creek Retreat spend two days of intense discussion about the present and future of prehospital medicine, and the group has been credited with moving prehospital clinical practice light years ahead of traditional means through their collective research, practices and recommendations for change and enhancement.
