New York County Recognizes EMS Personnel

Officials noted the recent response to the Gowanda floods and the Flight 3407 tragedy.

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. - They put their lives on the line every day to save others.

Local EMT's, paramedics and firefighters are among the first responders honored during Thursday's EMS Ceremony in Cheektowaga. Erie County is recognizing the emergency personnel who provide life-saving care around the clock. Officials noted the recent response to the Gowanda floods and the Flight 3407 tragedy.

Erie County Emergency Services Commissioner Greg Skibitsky said, "The lives that they touch everyday, the people behind me, from the 911 call, to the time they're brought to the hospital. They save lives everyday."

Thursday's ceremony is park of EMS Week in Erie County.
