PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say emergency crews have rescued a construction worker who got trapped by falling debris at a northern New York demolition site.
Plattsburgh media outlets report that the worker was pinned around 8 a.m. Thursday as the roof on the former Ames Plaza in Plattsburgh was being dismantled.
Clinton County fire officials tell WPTZ-TV that rescue crews have pulled the man from the rubble.
State police tell the Press-Republican of Plattsburgh that the man is an employee of an asbestos-removal company helping to dismantle the old shopping center. Police say the man was conscious and talked to workers during the rescue effort.
Information on the man's condition wasn't immediately available.
