PRINCETON TOWNSHIP, N.J. - NJ.com and the Times of Trenton have reported that a Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad member has died while attempting a water rescue search.

Micheal Kenwood was swept away by swift moving flood waters while attempting to search a submerged car during Hurricane Irene. Local police have reported that Kenwood has died as a result of his injuries.

Kenwood was a member of the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad's swift water rescue team. The team was dispatched on Sunday to investigate a submerged car that was believed to have an occupant inside. It was later determined that no one was in the car.

According to NJ.com, Kenwood entered the water connected to another rescuer. The two realized the current was too strong and began to turn back when they fell. Crews on shore were connected to the rescuers but the line reportedly became free. Kenwood was swept away and was later recovered by another team in a boat.
