NASHUA, N.H. (WMUR) - Employees of a New Hampshire ambulance service will have roughly two months before their company closes its doors.
WMUR reports that 164 employees of Rockingham Regional Ambulance will cease operations on September 30, 2011.
Rockingham is run by St. Joseph Hospital and is known as the state's oldest and largest ambulance service.
According to WMUR Rockingham's Executive Director Chris Stawasz says the close comes after the state's budget cut to Medicaid reimbursement.
New employees are being assisted by job placement services and could become employed by a new vendor. Nashua Mayor Donna Lee Lozeau, whose community has relied on Rockingham for 30 years told WMUR that Nashua will have ambulance service and hopefully Rockingham employees can be employed by a new vendor.
Along with Rockingham Regional Ambulance, a medical equipment company is expected to close as well.
