HOLT, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says seven to 12 students were taken a hospital with moderate and minor injuries after their school bus went off a highway and into a creekbed.
Patrol Sgt. Bill Lowe says the bus carrying students from the Kearney school district ran off Missouri 33 south of Holt about 7 a.m. Thursday.
Lowe says he didn't know how many students were on the bus.
The driver told investigating officers that she was going across a narrow bridge when she heard a "pop" and lost control of the bus. Lowe says troopers believe the sound was the bus hitting a guardrail. He says the bus grazed one tree before hitting another and stopping in the creekbed.
Lowe wasn't sure if the bus driver was taken to the hospital.
