FRENCHTOWN, Mich. - A newspaper report said a worker at a Michigan nuclear-power plant lost parts of two fingers.
The Monroe Evening News report said the worker's hand was pinched Thursday between a nuclear reactor wall and a reactor shield at DTE Energy's Fermi 2 plant . The report said the accident was disclosed to nuclear regulators by the utility.
Doctors considered reattaching the severed fingers but they could not be used.
The Evening News said the parts were returned to the nuclear plant and disposed of as "contaminated material."
