DETROIT, Mich. -- Detroit police and Michigan State Police continue to search for a woman who hit an EMS worker with her vehicle on Detroit's west side.

It happened early Saturday morning on Outer Drive near the Lodge Freeway.

Paramedic Mike Kotulak and his partner were helping a stranded motorist when the woman's vehicle struck and tossed Kotulak across the Lodge Freeway.

Kotulak's family said he is badly hurt and may have to complete up to nine weeks of rehab because of fractured bones in his legs.

Investigators said the unidentified woman stopped to check on Kotulak after she hit him, but then left before police arrived.

"We would just like her to turn herself in and do the right thing," said Potulak's wife Sanda.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Michigan State Police at 313-456-6600.
