Manitowoc rescue officials said an industrial accident left a man impaled on a metal rod Friday.
The man is hospitalized. His name and condition weren't released Saturday.
Authorities were called Friday morning to Parker Hannifin Corp. and found the man impaled on a metal rod that entered his torso from one side and exited from the other.
The rod was about 10 feet long and a little more than a half-inch in diameter, the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter said.
Deputy fire chief Todd Blaser said the man was alert and conscious as the paramedic crew treated him.
The company said the man is a machine operator who was injured during a routine procedure.
The accident is under investigation.
