CLINTON, Md. (MyFoxDC) - Paramedics needed some emergency help of their own, after a truck collided with an ambulance Sunday.
It happened at the intersection of Surratts Road and Branch Avenue in Prince George's County.
Witnesses said the ambulance was turning left on to Surratts Road from Branch Avenue when it was hit broadside by a tow truck. The force of the impact pushed the ambulance into a third vehicle.
Both paramedics, the driver of the passenger vehicle, and the original patient had to be taken in for treatment. Investigators say charges are pending against the tow truck driver.
" The ambulance had all of its warning devices activated, meaning sirens and lights, "Prince George's County Fire and Ems Spokesman Mark Brady says. " We urge people to pay attention. If they see an ambulance, pull over to the curb, and come to a complete stop."
The injuries to the paramedics and driver of the civilian vehicle are not believed to be serious. No word on the whether or not the original patient in the ambulance suffered additional injuries because of the crash.
