Longtime Ontario Paramedic Passes Away

Peterborough County EMS paramedic passed away

(LAKEFIELD) A longtime Peterborough County EMS paramedic and volunteer firefighter with the Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield Fire Department has passed away.

Thomas Colpitts, 66, died on Friday (April 22) at the palliative care unit of the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Mr. Colpitts and his wife of 40 years, Sue, live on R.R. #1 in Lakefield.

Friends, family and colleagues are gathering Tuesday (April 26) for Mr. Colpitts funeral service in Lakefield. Also in attendance at the service will be representatives from various emergency services. Local firefighters, police officers and EMS workers will line the street in Lakefield leading from Hendren Funeral Home on Queen Street to the Lakefield United Church on Regent Street where the funeral service is taking place at 1 p.m.

Memorial donations can be made to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre's Closer Campaign as expressions of sympathy. Friends can send condolences or make donations by contacting Hendren Funeral Home Lakefield Chapel at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
