IONIA, Mich., March 29, 2013 – Shaun Trumble, field supervisor and training officer for Life EMS Ambulance’s Eastern Division in Ionia, was one of four emergency medical service (EMS) caregivers and educators from Michigan to be honored with a prestigious 2013 Star of Life award earlier this month at the American Ambulance Association’s Star of Life celebration in Washington, D.C.

The Star of Life award recognizes the dedication and achievements of individuals within the EMS community from across the country. It is one of the most prestigious awards an EMS caregiver can receive.

Trumble, a lifelong Ionia resident, has worked with Life EMS Ambulance since 1995 and has been in the industry for nearly 30 years. She was nominated for the award by her peers in recognition of her unwavering dedication and contribution to helping others through her leadership in training new associates and in routine, day-to-day operations.

“We are very proud to have Trumble on our team,” said Life EMS Ambulance President and CEO Mark Meijer. “She sets the bar high in her training classes, and provides exceptional care to those in need when on duty.”

Trumble’s passion for pre-hospital care can be seen in all aspects of her work, from patient care to guiding quality improvement activities.

“I purposely chose to work in Ionia so that can serve the friends and neighbors of my hometown,” said Trumble. “I am honored to have been recognized with this award. Meeting the other Stars of Life at the conference really brings home that what we do as an EMS provider is special.”

The three-day celebration honored 80 EMS caregivers representing the United States, Canada and the Virgin Islands. While in Washington, D.C., those being honored were given the opportunity to meet with Congressional staff on Capitol Hill and talk about the importance of maintaining quality ambulance services in communities.

When off duty, Trumble enjoys spending time with her husband of 38 years, Doug, their two children, Freedom and Chanson, and their two grandchildren. Trumble also enjoys writing and organic gardening and farming on her busy, three-acre farm in Ionia.
