KALAMAZOO, MICH. (June 7, 2010) - Life EMS Ambulance has dedicated its new LEED-certified service facility in Kalamazoo, Mich., the first of its kind in the state and one of the first such EMS service facilities in the nation. The event was part of Life EMS’ 20-year anniversary of serving southwest Michigan, including Kalamazoo and Allegan counties.
“Every day, we take pride in providing the most compassionate, exceptional lifesaving-emergency care, and we now have an expanded, state-of-the-art facility that allows us to support our growing operations throughout southwest Michigan,” said Mark Meijer, president of Life EMS Ambulance.
The general contracting for the $2 million, 18,170-square-foot facility was handled by CSM Group and the architectural firm was Byce & Associates. Both companies are based in Kalamazoo. The renovated and expanded facility, which triples the space of the original site, features renovated office space, state-of-the-art vehicle maintenance bays for Life EMS Ambulance’s specialty fleet, education/training areas and predictive deployment technology.
Since 1980, Life EMS Ambulance has consistently reduced response time while providing compassionate emergency care. Life EMS Ambulance was the first ambulance service in West Michigan and among the first in the U.S. to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services, the gold standard in the EMS industry. Recognized as a 2010 West Michigan “Best and Brightest Company to Work For”, Life EMS employs more than 350 employees and serves West Michigan, including Grand Rapids/Kent, Portage/Kalamazoo, Ottawa, Ionia, Newaygo, Lake, Mason and Allegan counties (more than 3,500 square miles).
