In the month of January, the following EMS personnel were recognized by the National EMS Memorial Service (NEMSMS) for having lost their lives in the line of duty.
EMT Timothy “Kyle” Southern, 21
Priority Patient Transport, Harrisonburg, VA
Killed on January 6, 2012 when his ambulance was involved in a motor vehicle collision.
Paramedic Sarah Nodurft, 27
Boone County Ambulance Authority, Racine, WV
Died on January 25, 2012 from an unknown medical condition while on duty.
The purpose of the National EMS Memorial Service is to remember and honor those emergency medical services personnel who have died in the line of duty and to recognize the ultimate sacrifice they have made for their fellow man. You can learn more about the NEMSMS here.
