The IAFC EMS Section presented Meritorious Service Awards to three influential members of the EMS/Fire community on Wednesday evening at the Fire Rescue MED conference in Las Vegas.
Each honoree was recognized for their significant contributions to EMS throughout their careers, particularly in their capacities as chief officers in the fire service.
EMS section chairman, Gary Ludwig, said that, "Each honoree was unanimously approved by the EMS Section leadership and was being recognized for advocating not only for top quality EMS in their own fire-based EMS systems, but also on the state and national level."
The 2011 IAFC EMS Section Meritorious Service honorees are:
William Metcalf, Fire Chief, North County Fire Protection District located in North San Diego County CA, and 2nd Vice President-elect of the IAFC;
Peter Lawrence, Battalion Chief, Oceanside (CA) Fire Dept. and an expert on, and strong advocate for, EMS third party reimbursement.
Kevin Brame, Battalion Chief, North Las Vegas Fire Dept. and active advocate for improved EMS response systems nationwide.
