Four Louisiana Students Killed In Wreck

Truck overturned killing four high school students

| Monday, September 27, 2010

HOUMA, La. - A pickup truck overturned on a southern Louisiana highway and ended up in a bayou, killing four high school students.

The students from Vandebilt Catholic High School were returning from the LSU football game and were close to home when the pickup truck crashed early Sunday. The high school football team's starting quarterback was among those killed in the crash off state Highway 182 near Houma (HOH'-muh).

Louisiana State Police say a GPS signal from a cell phone helped locate the truck. Friends and authorities tell The Courier newspaper that one of the parents received a text about 12:45 a.m. Sunday saying the students were close to home. When they didn't arrive, parents began looking for them.

The cause of the wreck is under investigation.
