Employees were evacuated and State Police were on scene.

RANSON, W.Va. (AP) — Authorities say they have found no traces of a chemical agent inside a small-town post office in West Virginia where a package exploded and spewed an unidentified white powder.

The scare prompted officials to quarantine 15 workers Friday, though none has shown signs of illness.

Ronald Fletcher, a firefighter with Citizens Fire Company, has been designated the spokesman about the incident at the U.S. Post Office in Ranson. He says a robot inspected the air for chemical agents, but so far the tests are coming back negative.

Fletcher says the quarantined workers were being sheltered inside a school bus. Residents in the area were told to stay inside as a precaution.

Employees told police they heard a pop and then saw a shower of white powder around 7:45 a.m.
