Remember to be silent at 7 p.m. tomorrow.

The National EMS Memorial urges providers and their family to take a moment at that time to join in remembering fallen colleagues during the 13th annual National Moment of Silence.

This weekend marks the first time the National EMS Memorial will be held in its new home of Colorado Springs, Colo. Since 1993, the memorial has honored 538 EMS providers from 49 states and Washington, D.C. who have given their lives in the line of duty.

It's not a single event but a weekend of events centered around the ceremony known as the National EMS Memorial Service. The 18th Annual National EMS Memorial Service will start at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 26 at the First Presbyterian Church.

Taking it to the Streets
In commemoration of this year's National EMS Memorial and National Moment of Silence, a group of bicycle riders will be starting the Colorado leg of the 2010 EMS Memorial Bike Ride at 5 a.m. According to the National EMS Memorial Bike Ride, the Colorado ride is a one‐day bicycling event to honor and celebrate the lives of EMS providers who have become sick or injured, or have died while performing their duties.

Funds raised during this ride benefit the families of fallen EMS practitioners through the Fallen Angels Fund.

The ride starts in Littleton at AirLife Memorial Park and ends at 7 p.m. in an EMS parade and barbeque at Antler’s park in Colorado Springs. The barbecue is co‐sponsored by the National EMS Memorial Service.
