Eight Injured in Maine School Bus Crash

Seven students and one adult were transported from Hebron collision

| Wednesday, September 19, 2012

HEBRON, Maine (AP) — Maine officials say seven students riding in a school bus and the driver of a car have been taken to a hospital after a head-on collision.

Seven ambulances and a medical helicopter were called after an Oxford Hills school bus and a car collided on Route 119 in Hebron shortly before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Schools Superintendent Richard Colpitts said seven students were taken by ambulance to a hospital, and that their injuries weren't thought to be life-threatening.

The Sun Journal (http://bit.ly/NAqFiZ ) reported that a witness said the driver of the car swerved off the road and overcorrected before slamming head-on into the bus. Emergency crews had to extricate the driver, who was then flown by helicopter to a hospital with what were believed to be leg and back injuries.
