WASHINGTON - Authorities say five people have been hospitalized after two taxis, a Metrobus and three other cars crashed in downtown D.C.
D.C. fire and EMS department spokesman Pete Piringer says a cab driver was eastbound on K Street when authorities believe he had a medical emergency, causing him to end up in the westbound lane at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. His car and the other vehicles then crashed.
Piringer says some U.S. Department of Homeland security police officers were passing by and called authorities. He says they noticed the initial cab driver was not breathing, so they broke his window and started CPR.
Emergency responders then arrived and transported the taxi driver and four others for evaluation. A block of K Street was closed.
