We’re Looking for A Few Good Speakers
If you have an interesting program idea, the Center for Public Safety Excellence invites you to submit an application for our Call For Presentations. By submitting a program, you can help shape the educational content of the CPSE Excellence Conference in March, 2014, and promote continuous improvement in the fire and rescue profession. If selected as a conference speaker, you will gain visibility in the industry and contribute to the advancement of your profession. Complete the application and return it by September 27, 2013.

The Evaluation Process
Members of the Program Advisory Committee evaluate all proposed programs based on the following criteria: overall quality, relevance to the fire and rescue community, well-defined focus within the program track structure, practical applications of material, timeliness of the topic and speaker qualifications.

To be considered as a speaker, your program must be educational in nature — focusing on solutions.  This year’s theme is Our Future: By Choice, Not Chance!  Your material should be original; otherwise, sources must be referenced. For multiple speakers, each speaker must agree to this submission.  Incomplete program submissions will not be considered.

The final program selections and notifications will be made in early October. You will be notified only if your program is selected.

Program Guidelines
Your proposal should address individual or organizational development and improvement, or a solution that provides development and improvement in both areas. Please specify either or both in your proposal. The committee will also consider proposals in more general areas but the proposal should still have a relationship to CPSE’s two major program areas of credentialing and accreditation. Programs should be ninety minutes in length of time, including a brief session for question and answer. Programs should not consist of more than two speakers.

Speaker Expenses
Funding for reimbursement is limited and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Every speaker will receive a complimentary full conference registration valued at least $675, and an offer for one night’s lodging when not covered by a sponsoring agency.

Nine Steps for Submitting Your Program Idea
To be considered, complete the following steps on the abstract form.
1. Enter the title of your presentation.
2. Indicate whether the topic is intermediate or advanced.
3. Fill in the name, professional affiliation (if applicable), title, company or organization, address, telephone, fax number and e-mail addresses of all presenters (no more than two, including moderator).
4. Prepare a 40-50 word description of your presentation.
a. Provide at least 3 specific course objectives, learning outcomes or specific skills attendees can expect to gain from your presentation.  This year we are looking for solutions. The theme for this year is Our Future; By Choice, Not Chance. We want attendees to leave with concrete solutions to their challenges – whether it’s credentialing or agency accreditation.
5. You should identify specific performance indicators and/or technical competencies from each model which your proposal topic and content references.
6. Attach a mandatory but brief professional biography for each presenter.
7. Indicate if you have a book and would like to do a book signing. 
8. Indicate the target audience.
9. Confirm that you will submit your completed presentation by no later than December 2, 2013, for inclusion in the mobile app and conference proceedings.

The Center for Public Safety Excellence Inc. (CPSE) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization established in 1996 to award accreditation to fire and emergency service agencies and to pursue scientific research and education in the public interest. In 2000 credentialing was developed to facilitate in the professional development and career planning for fire and emergency service personnel.

The Center for Public Safety Excellence primary concentration is on its accreditation and credentialing models. The accreditation model identifies and maintains optimal levels of fire and emergency services for agencies. The credentialing model elevates and sustains the professional standards for those persons responsible for managing and delivering essential fire and emergency services.

The Center for Public Safety Excellence conducts workshops and publishes materials specifically designed to achieve and maintain a continuous path for quality improvement for both fire and emergency service agencies and personnel. CPSE has a consulting service to help the fire and emergency service community meet the new public expectations to achieve and measure standards of effectiveness for the cost and methods of delivering essential fire and emergency services.
