Canadian Teen Injured In Grain Elevator Fall

16-year old fell while working in the elevator

The Canadian Press | | Monday, July 26, 2010

INDIAN HEAD, Sask.  - A teenage girl has suffered serious injuries after she fell from a grain elevator in Saskatchewan.

RCMP in Indian Head say the girl, who is about 16, fell over 20 metres from the working elevator in the town early this morning.

She was unconscious when police and EMS staff got there, and was rushed to hospital in Regina.

Sgt. Robert Moar says the teen was with one other person on the elevator and that it looks like the fall was accidental.

The investigation is still ongoing, but Moar says it's unfortunately not uncommon for people to climb the elevator.

Moar says teen was still in surgery this afternoon.

On July 25, 2010 at approximately 06:27 hours the Indian Head RCMP, with the Indian Head Fire dept and EMS responded to a complaint of a unconscious female who had suffered a fall of approximately 75 feet from a Grain Elevator in Indian Head. The female was transported to the Regina General Hospital in serious condition. At the request of the family the name will not be released. The file is still under investigation.
