NAPA - American Medical Response (AMR) was recommended for Napa County's ambulance franchise, the county's Health and Human Services Agency director announced last week.
The director notified the Board of Supervisors that he's recommending AMR as the successful bidder for the contract, according to a statement.
State law requires Napa County to periodically re-issue its exclusive emergency ambulance franchise through an open and competitive bidding process.
AMR's base rate equates to $1,477 in the city of Napa, where most ambulance calls occur, and $1,577 in other areas. A total of $392 separated the highest and lowest base rates proposed by the four bidders.
The notification begins a 14-day period during which any of the unsuccessful bidders may file a protest.
