TUCSON, Ariz. (June 20, 2012) – Arizona Governor Jan Brewer recently welcomed leaders of Rural/Metro’s Southwest Zone to the Arizona Mexico Commission’s Summer Plenary Session, during which the Company donated ambulances to two communities in Mexico.

Rural/Metro’s PMT Ambulance division donated an ambulance for use in Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point), Mexico, and Rural/Metro’s Southwest Ambulance division donated an ambulance to Etchojoa, Sonora, Mexico for use by the Mexican Department of Health.

“These ambulances will have a significant impact on the medical care of the residents and visitors to Rocky Point and Etchojoa, Sonora, Mexico,” said John Karolzak, Southwest Zone Vice President of Rural/Metro Corporation. “Rural/Metro’s dedication to clinical excellence and patient care has no borders. These donated ambulances will be important resources to the Mexican Department of Health in providing patient care.”

Etchojoa has a population of approximately 8,350 residents and is located in the State of Sonora, Mexico. Rocky Point is home to more than 50,000 residents and is located in the Northwestern area of Sonora, Mexico.

Both PMT Ambulance and Southwest Ambulance have played active roles in the Arizona Mexico Commission for several years, and have each donated ambulances to Mexican communities in the past, including the communities of Guaymas, Nogales, Mexicali, Agua Prieta , Hermosillo, Los Alamos and Montezuma.

Each donated ambulances is fully stocked with medical supplies and equipment critical in providing the best possible patient care. Both organizations have also donated several Spanish version AED’s and provided AED training to many EMS professionals in Sonora. Many of the donations were made through the efforts of the Arizona Mexico Commission and the Comisión Sonoran Arizona, or through Sister Cities organizations in communities served by Rural/Metro.
