AirMed Chopper Makes Emergency Landing

Pat Reavy, Deseret (Utah) News | | Tuesday, November 23, 2010

RIVERDALE, Utah -- An AirMed helicopter responding to a rollover accident near Riverdale on I-84 had to make somewhat of an emergency landing Monday. About 1:45 p.m., the chopper was trying to land on the freeway, when it clipped a road sign, breaking the helicopter's rotor, said University Hospital spokeswoman Ryan Rasmussen. The helicopter was able to complete its landing safely. "Everybody's fine. Nobody was hurt," Rasmussen said of the three-person crew onboard. "It was able to land OK." The patients the AirMed crew was responding to help were taken by ambulance to a local hospital. As of 2:15 p.m., crews were still trying to figure out how to get the helicopter off the road and how to haul it to a place where it could be fixed, she said.
