EAST ORANGE, N.J. (AP) — Thirty people were injured when a fast moving fire roared through a high-rise apartment building in northern New Jersey,
Officials tell the Star-Ledger of Newark (http://bit.ly/vz3Cer) that most of the injured — including nine firefighters — were treated at the scene for minor injuries that included exhaustion, smoke inhalation and bruises.
But one woman who lives in the 17-story East Orange building was being treated at a hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire broke around 12:45 a.m. Sunday on the ninth floor of the 17-story building and was brought under control about two hours later. Fire officials say the blaze is not considered suspicious, but the cause remains under investigation.
Officials say most of the building's residents were able to return to their units by Sunday afternoon.
